UNDP SUPPORTS ENERGY EFFICIENT KINDERGARTEN

From an old house, the kindergarten Kalinka, in Aerodrom Municipality will become the first completely energy efficient kindergarten in the country, after the implementation of the pilot project supported by UNDP that commenced yesterday.

The reconstruction of the facility encompasses replacement of rooftops and walls, doors and new modern PVC windows with high quality isolation, completely new electrical installation and a new façade with thermal isolation. Also, solar collectors will be installed to provide hot water, which will save energy and reduce expenses.

The reconstruction of the kindergarten will be conducted by an elaborate prepared by experts from Czech Republic.

Construction activities will be managed during weekends, to protect children from possible negative effects.

The project is conducted in the framework of a joint UNDP and Ministry of Environment programme on “Mitigating climate change through improving Energy Efficiency in Public buildings, supported by the Government of Austria.

Aerodrom Municipality contributes to the project with 4 million MKD.
