New Energy Efficiency Project signed

Mitigating of Climate Change Through Improvement of the Energy Efficiency in the Building Sector

Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Mr. Nexhati Jakupiand UNDP Resident Representative a.i. Ms. Ann-Marie Ali, signed Friday the new Energy Efficiency Project, officially titled “Mitigating of Climate Change through Improvement of the energy Efficiency in the Building Sector”. The project is considered as one of the components of a bigger programme, financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation, aimed at contributing to the improvement of energy efficiency in the country, though contributing to the implementation of the recently adopted “Strategy for Energy Development”.

The main objective of the project is to contribute to an enabling environment for improving energy efficiency in building sector and at that end contributing to climate change mitigation at national level. Its implementation will bring together important national entities such as the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Transport and Communications, ZELS (Association of Local Self Governments) and other relevant stakeholders.
